This policy explains how Reflex (published by rflx.app, “we” or “us”) handles information in Reflex 3, including its TestFlight beta, and on this website. Contact us at rflx.app@gmail.com with privacy questions or requests.
Earlier Reflex versions and Perfect Loop Maker were covered by our previous privacy policy. Other apps on this domain have their own policies.
Camera, microphone, and your creations
Reflex processes camera images and effects on your device. Where an effect uses depth information or person segmentation, that processing also happens on your device. We do not upload your camera feed, microphone recordings, photos, videos, depth data, or segmentation masks to our servers or Firebase. We do not use this information to identify people or create advertising profiles.
Camera access lets you preview effects and capture media. Microphone access is optional and lets you include microphone audio in recordings. Photos access lets Reflex add the photos and videos you choose to save to your library. Saved media may then be managed or synced by Apple according to your Photos and iCloud settings.
Recordings use local temporary files, and effect preferences are stored locally. Depth and segmentation data are used for rendering, rather than saved as a separate personal-data record. The resulting visual effects may appear in the photos or videos you save. You control saved media in Photos; deleting Reflex does not delete items already saved there.
Optional Apple Music
If you enable Apple Music, Reflex asks Apple’s permission to access music features and your selected library items. It checks playback eligibility and displays information such as the current track, artist, and artwork. Apple handles its account, subscription, and playback services under Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Reflex does not receive your Apple Account password or payment details. Our analytics events do not include your song titles, library contents, or audio. Apple Music playback does not grant permission to export or redistribute that music.
Usage information, crash reports, and configuration
Reflex includes these Google Firebase services. They may initialize automatically when the app starts:
- Analytics: app interactions such as onboarding progress, selected effects, camera switching, recording duration, and capture/save outcomes. The SDK can also process app-instance or device identifiers, device and app information, session activity, attribution information, and approximate location derived from network information. We use these reports to understand and improve the app. Our custom events do not contain captured media or music-library contents.
- Crashlytics: crash diagnostics, including stack traces, app and operating-system versions, device characteristics, timestamps, and installation/session identifiers, to investigate failures.
- Remote Config: installation identifiers and technical information to deliver app configuration. In TestFlight, this can notify the app that the beta has ended and offer a link to the App Store version.
See Firebase’s privacy information and Google’s Privacy Policy for provider processing. Reflex does not display advertising. Device permission switches for the camera, microphone, Photos, and Music do not switch off Firebase diagnostics or analytics.
TestFlight signup and support
The signup form collects your email address and a request to join the Reflex 3 beta waitlist. FormSubmit processes the submission and sends it to our Gmail inbox. Its spam protection may use Google reCAPTCHA, which can process browser and network information under Google’s Privacy Policy. You can email us directly instead of using the form.
We use your address to manage the waitlist, let you know when the beta is ready, and add invited testers in Apple’s App Store Connect. A request is not an automatic invitation or a newsletter subscription. Apple separately handles TestFlight invitations, tester feedback, and crash information under its own terms and privacy policy.
If you contact us, we receive the address, message, and any attachments you send. Please avoid sending sensitive information or other people’s media unless needed and you have permission.
Website visits
GitHub Pages hosts this website. Its infrastructure receives technical request information, such as IP addresses, to deliver and secure the site; see GitHub’s Privacy Statement. Our new signup and Reflex 3 legal pages do not load website analytics or third-party fonts. Following external links or submitting the form connects you to the relevant provider, whose cookie and privacy practices apply.
Sharing, storage, and retention
We use the providers above to operate the app, deliver signup requests, manage testing, and respond to support. Information may be processed in countries other than your own. We may also disclose information when required by law or necessary to protect people’s rights or the security of our services.
Local media and preferences remain subject to your device’s storage and deletion controls. We keep signup and support correspondence while needed to manage beta access, respond to requests, and meet applicable obligations. FormSubmit states that it retains submissions for 30 days. Firebase, Google, GitHub, and Apple apply their own service retention rules; deleting the app does not automatically erase information already received by those providers.
Your choices and requests
You can skip optional permissions, change them in iOS Settings, delete saved media, stop using the app, or leave the beta in TestFlight. Email rflx.app@gmail.com to withdraw a signup request, stop beta emails, or ask about access, correction, or deletion of information we hold. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to object, restrict processing, receive a copy of your data, or complain to a privacy authority. We may need information to verify and locate your request; we cannot identify every diagnostic record from an email address alone.
Children and updates
Reflex and beta signup are not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
